The George Main Stakes
The Race: First run in 1945 this is a key race of the early Spring Racing Carnival in Sydney and while the winners of the race are impressive many of the placegetters have gone on to success in bigger races, in particular the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in late October.
Best lead-up form: Warwick Stakes, Theo Marks & Chelmsford Stakes.
The Track: Randwick is a large course with four sweeping turns. Generally fair, but tends to favour the on pace runners when the ground is rain affected.
Track Bias, Barriers: The race starts in a chute into the first of two corners which can be a slight disadvantage to those drawn out wide.
Weight, Statistics: Majority of winners have been male horses aged 4, 5, 6 although 3yo's also have a reasonably successful record in the race.
Conditions: Weight For Age
The final field of the George Main Stakes with barrier draw, jockeys, weights, scratchings & early betting odds will be published here.
