The Feehan Stakes
The Race: regarded as an important lead-up form race for the WFA Cox Plate in late October.
Track Bias, Barriers: Moonee Valley has tight corners and a short home straight. The rail is usually True so there is little bias, although an inside draw is an advantage. The 1600m start is just after the winning post which gives every horse a chance to take up their preferred position. The field has another chance to improve position before turning into the last corner. Horses coming from close to the lead and peeling out coming out of the corner can run down the leaders if they have the turn of foot.
Lead Up Form: early in the season so many runners will be resuming from a spell. Some horses may be backing up from the 1400m Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on the previous Saturday or a run in the P B Lawrence Stakes.
Weight Statistics: Under WFA conditions the majority of winners are male horses, however lighter weighted mares do have a good record in this event.
Track: Moonee Valley
Conditions: Group 2 WFA
The final field of the Feehan Stakes with barrier draw, jockeys, weights, scratchings & opening betting odds will be published here.
