History: The Caulfield Classic was previously run as the Norman Robinson Stakes and is held on Caulfield Cup Day. Run as a handicap until 1990, now run under set weight conditions.
Track Bias, Barriers: The rail is often positioned out on Caulfield Cup day following two days of racing at this track in the same week, this makes it difficult for runners to make up a lot of ground from the back of the field and inside barriers are usually an advantage.
Race Statistics: not usually a race for the fillies, although they have recorded minor placings, the majority of winners are colts or geldings carrying 55-57kgs.
