The Race: Dating back to 1865 when over a mile, the distance was reduced to 1400m in 2004. The All Aged is open to any thoroughbred including 2yo. It is the second Group 1 feature race on the third day of racing at Randwick during The Championships along with the Champagne Stakes.
Notable Winners: Carbine, Wakeful, Ajax Tulloch, Tobin Bronze, Rough Habit, Sunline.
Best Lead Up Race: Galaxy, T J Smith, Randwick Guineas, Futurity, George Ryder.
Track Bias, Barriers: The 1400m start is located in a chute off the course proper with an angled run of 450m to the first corner. The rail is usually out a significant distance for the third week of racing at this track. Will be hard for the backmarkers to make up a lot of ground on the leaders but barriers are usually of little importance as fields are limited.
