About Wyong Racecourse.
Barriers Info & Starting Positiion:
Racing at Wyong has been been active in the same location since 1875. It is a fairly tight turning track with a short final straight of about 275m while the remainder of the track is almost circular. The 2100m start is at the start of the final straight and the 1600m start is positioned just after the finishing line round the corner into the short left hand straight.
Sprint distance races start in a chute leading into the curving right hand side and have an opportunity to get on pace before the curve comes into effect. There is generally an advantage to being drawn in and capable of racing on pace, it is possible to lead all the way to winning post. Absolute backmarkers will find it hard to win unless the field is a small and there has been plenty of pace up front.
