The Track: Flemington is racing headquarters in Victoria, a spacious track with sweeping turns and a long home straight. On Oaks day the rail is often moved out after racing on Melbourne Cup day two days before, if the ground is Dead or worse we often see them avoiding the inside fence and heading to the centre of the track in search of better ground.
Track Bias, Barriers: The 1200m start is situated at the far end of the "Straight Six" chute and provides a long straight run to the finish line on the course proper. As the rail is usually out on Oaks Day drawing a wide gate can be an advantage as it puts those runners in the better part of the going nearer the grandstand side.
