The Race: Night racing feature event for sprinters, many runners will be resuming their campaigns for the Spring Carnival. Won by many champion sprinters, most notable the champion Manikato who has a race named in is honour which is held on the Eve of Moonee Valley's premier race of the year, The Cox Plate. This race can often be a good form indicator for the Manikato Stakes.
Lead Up Form: Often won by a horse who is running First Up, recent form races for this event include Carlyon, McEwen & Schillaci Stakes and these sprinters may well have contested races such as the Goodwood, Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond.
Track Bias, Barriers: The Moir Stakes meeting is one of the features of Friday night racing, the rail is usually True or out a few metres and there is little bias evident - although racing on pace is always an advantage at this course, particularly in the sprint races such as this one.
Weight, Stats: A few horses have won this race multiples times. Mares have a good record in this event, as do 3yo’s who are suited by the WFA scale.
