Harness Racing:
Harness racing (Trotting) takes place on most racing days in Australia, but the most popular meetings for harness racing in are at night.
The Inter Dominion series features separate competitions for pacers and trotters in Australia & New Zealand with the pacers competition attracting prizemoney over $1million. Heats for the Trotters Inter Dominium are conducted at all the major harness tracks culminating in the final in March.

Australian Harness Racing Premier Races:
Australasian Pacers Grand Circuit: series consists of 16 races with winners awarded 3 points, 2nd 2 points and 3rd 1 point and the horse with the most points at the end is the winner. The Total prizemoney for the 16 races can vary but has often exceeded $5million in recent years.
The Miracle Mile: at Menangle in December.1760m race with race record and track record 1:48.5 held by Smoken Up.
The A.G. Hunter Cup: endurance race over 3050m originally run at Moonee Valley but now at Harness Racing Victoria’s headquarters Tabcorp Park at Melton.The race is worth $425,000 and takes place in February.
The Chariots of Fire: over 1609m, this race is the richest race for 4 yr olds at $200,000. Originally at Harold Park and now run at Menangle in August.
Auckland Trotting Cup: Valued at $600,000 and run over 3200m, it forms part of the Auckland Cup week celebrations which features the Thoroughbreds on Wednesday, Grey Hounds on Thursday and Harness on Friday.
