Caulfield Race 7 Mares Hcp 1100m.
Pretty Possum will need to go forward from the inside gate as she did at Moonee Valley, rates a place chance if she does. Estaminet has won fresh and can go forward, rates a place chance. Miss Vista led to win first up, hasn’t missed a place in 5 runs but untried on wet. Grey Street placed this t/d when resuming, winner on wet and will be running on late. Majestic Lass has a very good record fresh, unplaced on Soft but was only fourth and not far from the winner, genuine chance.
Summary: Miss Vista ($3.4) and Majestic Lass ($7) rate highly, place chances to Pretty Possum ($23), Estaminet ($12), and Grey Street ($4.6)
Caulfield Race 8 Listed Race 1440m.
Charmed Harmony likes to lead and the wet track is a bonus. Zebulon had a strong win last start and previous run was placed here at Group 2. Heart Starter was a first up winner last campaign, new stable and will be better over more ground but a place chance. Whistle Baby placed this t/d las time with 58kg in mares grade, this is tougher but another that rates a place chance. Top Me Up impressed at Bendigo and is rarely far from the action, fresh here and a top chance.
Summary: winning chances to Charmed Harmony ($3.6) , Zebulon ($5.5) & Top Me Up ($6.5), next best Heart Starter ($9) & Whistle Baby ($4.8).
Hawkesbury Race 7 Hawkesbury Guineas 1400m.
Generalissimo was a last start winner at Randwick, locally trained and won 3/5 at this track. Spright is a sprinter yet to win beyond 1200, placed at Group 2 last start. Salsonic has been freshened, placed G3 Randwick Spring Stakes on protest and could be a value runner. Prompt Response has been racing well in filly's grade including at Group and Listed level, likely to place. Shazee Lee also has the home track advantage with a good record at this t/d.
Summary: rate the locally trained runners Generalissimo ($12), Spright ($4.5) and Shazee Lee ($26) among the main chances, include Salsonic ($35) and Prompt Response ($6.5) in exotics.
Hawkesbury Race 8 Hawkesbury Gold Cup 1600m.
Famous Seamus is trained here and winner this track on Oaks day last Spring, will find this easier than last start. Fabrizio is a winner this trip, not sure he’s up to this grade but a winner of a barrier trial this week which shows a degree of seriousness about running well here. Spectroscope was vetted after failing in the Doncaster but didn’t get conditions to suit, previous form was good. Marenostro has placed here twice when taken to the lead, needs to go forward from the wide gate to show best. Moher is racing well in lesser grade, capable of leading which is an advantage. Kellyville Flyer is a last start winner on Heavy and like most locals races well here, there is a long run to the turn to give her a chance to overcome the wide gate.
Summary: open race but again leaning to a locally trained runner in Kellyville Flyer ($13), gate is a slight concern though. Plenty to consider as at least place chances including Famous Seamus ($41), Fabrizio ($7), Spectroscope ($5.5), Marenostro ($10) and Moher ($10).
