Doomben Race 5 Tattersalls Cup 2200m Group 3.
Rudy finished off well from a long way back in the Brisbane Cup, placed this t/d but hasn’t won beyond 1600m. Pemberley finished ahead of Rudy in the Bris. Cup and this distance suits. War Baby is backing up after a win in the Ipswich Cup, a little concerned about her record at this track with only one place from 10 starts but going well. More Energy struggled on Heavy at Randwick but previous run on Soft was good, has a good record at this track.
Summary: Pemberley ($2.6) is the one to beat, place chances to Rudy ($2.4), War Baby ($10) & More Energy ($13).
Doomben Race 7 Tattersalls Tiara 1350m Group 1.
Well, it’s an open affair. Danish Twist placed in the Group 1 Coolmore then ran into trouble when resuming, fitter now and a drier track would suit. In Her Time placed in the Stradbroke and looks suited back to mares grade. Bonny O’Reilly rarely finishes outside of the first three and placed this t/d last start, go well again. Nancy was held up last start and can improve with better luck. Kinsachi had excuses 2 starts previous then disadvantaged with the weight scale last start and better suited here. Prompt Response is always well placed and suited last start in the Dane Ripper, expected to go well again. Eckstein has a very good strike rate, first go at this track but good enough to figure in the finish.
Summary: In Her Time ($3.2) is the favourite for a reason and may be hard to catch. Place chances are many but consider Danish Twist ($17), Bonny O’Reilly ($10), Kinsachi ($21), Prompt Response ($6) & Eckstein ($10).
Flemington Race 7 David Bourke Prov. Plate 1600m.
Lucky Paddy didn’t fire first up but he never does, is a winner second up though and was ½ len. 4th this t/d last Dec. Hot Ruby is going alright in mares grade, capable of leading and can hold on in the finish. Trinity Hill usually gets a long way back and might be better suited here on a bigger track. Zagaya hasn’t missed a place in his last 5 starts, placed in town at The Valley and twice at this distance. Super Rockstar is down in weight, racing well in the country and could be a value runner.
Summary: Zagaya has the most reliable form and offers a decent ($9) price in the early betting. Rate Lucky Paddy ($17), Trinity Hill ($12) and Super Rockstar ($34) as place chances.
Have a good weekend, happy punting.
