The Race: one of the main features of Randwick's Autumn Carnival Champions series, The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a WFA event over 2000m run under similar conditions to the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in mid October. The race has always been attractive to horses who might also be targeted to the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup during the Melbourne Spring Carnival.
Best race form indicators: Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, Melbourne Cup, Ranvet, Doncaster, Chipping Norton, George Ryder, Canterbury Stakes.
Track Bias: the 2000m start is situated on the course proper just past the winning post. Fields are restricted to 14 and inside barriers are an advantage as the rail is usually moved out for the second week of racing at this track.
